Abhishek Vashishtha UPSC journey
UPSC 2024 was not his first successful attempt. It was his third. He had previously appeared twice in 2020 and 2022 and managed to clear in both attempts. His UPSC journey began in 2020 while he was doing his master’s degree from Swami Vivekananda Subharti University in Meerut. He cleared the UPSC in his very first attempt and was allocated to the Indian Revenue Service. Driven by the dream of becoming an IAS officer, he decided to appear again for the UPSC exams in 2022. He managed to clear UPSC in his second attempt with a better rank and was assigned to the Indian Police Service with the Punjab Cadre.
Despite being a busy IPS officer, he decided to take a third attempt to fulfill his dream of becoming an IAS officer. He not only cleared the exam but also achieved an impressive All India Rank of 14. He is now set to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). While he had already succeeded twice before, his drive to further improve himself led him to take another shot, and he has now realized his dream of becoming an IAS officer.
Abhishek Vashishtha Preparation Strategy
Abhisek Vashishtha depended on a balanced approach to clear UPSC in his third attempt. Since he was already an IPS officer, his schedule was packed. But he made a clear strategy to manage time and to prepare well for his third attempt. He was also a part of a number of test series and mentorship programs, mainly IAS Baba’s TLP and IMP programs. These programs made him prepare well for his mains and Interview.
Abhishek Vashishtha Optional Paper
Abhishek Vashishtha chose Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) as his optional subject for the Civil Services Examination. Having completed his Master’s degree in the same field, Political Science was a natural and strategic choice for him.
What makes Abhishek’s story stand out is that it was his third consecutive success in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. It’s rare to find someone who has achieved a hat-trick of successes in this highly competitive exam. We’ve often heard stories of aspirants making multiple attempts after facing failure in their initial or second try. But Abhishek’s journey is different. He never faced failure in any of his UPSC attempts. However, his persistence to become an IAS officer kept him going. And that persistence finally paid off. In his third attempt, he achieved his goal and secured an All India Rank of 14.
